Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has urged Stoke to put an end to the ongoing Jon Walters saga and firm up their interest with a bid this week.Walters has been linked with Stoke for the majority of the summer and there was talk last month that a bid had been lodged.
That did not turn out to be the case but the Potters have maintained an interest in the 24-year-old and are expected to finally make their move this week.
Walters is said to be desperate for a move back to the North West and Magilton has admitted that the forward is probably unsettled at Portman Road.
However the Town boss now wants Stoke to make an offer or end their pursuit of Walters altogether.
"If Stoke are serious about Jon then they should make an offer. If not then they should go away," he told the East Anglian Daily Times."It annoys me if it is unsettling Jon.
"He is an Ipswich Town footballer on a three-year deal. We don't want to sell him, we want to keep him. If Stoke are showing serious intent in getting Jon then they should do something about it.
"If not they should leave alone and let us get on with it."
Walters has been back in the North West recently preparing for the arrival of his second child, but he returned to training at Town on Monday after his wife gave birth as planned over the weekend.
Magilton revealed he would hold clear-the-air talks with the player, but denied the pair have had a bust-up. He did admit, however, that he will not stand Walters' way if he wants to join Stoke.
"There has been no fall out - that is all rumour," said Magilton.
"It is important that we sit down and talk. I sit down with all my players.
"Jon is a player that other people covet, which is good for us because we have taken him from Chester and he has done fantastically well.
"We have no reason to sell our best players. We want to move on to the next level and we see no reason why John can't help us do that.
"At the same time we don't want to stand in anyone's way. The club has a history of letting players go when it is the right time for the right sort of money."
