Team Chain Reaction rider, Claire Buchar stormed to success in the third annual Womenworx slopestyle event at the Kokanee Crankworx in Whistler, Canada yesterday taking on the breathtaking drops and jumps at the infamous Boneyard bike park with style and panache. She took the win ahead of an injured Stephanie Nychka although in true fashion, the two shared the $1000 prize purse.
Designed and built to test the most skilled male riders, Buchar looked at home dropping in off the monumental start tower, leading the way as the girls laid down some truly ground-breaking riding, stunning the crowds and silencing the doubters.
Looking smooth and stylish, an elated Buchar said, I tried to make it smooth, hit my lines and have fun, but she was still taken aback by how the course has developed, saying it was like the Boneyard on steroids.
On a day that saw ladies mountain biking step up to the plate, event organiser and pro mountain biker, Katrina Strand said, The event went really well. The girls have progressed immensely from last year. We were impressed and we had a lot of fun as well, which is always important. We were really happy to incorporate the The Gala slopestyle event into the programming because it gave us chance to showcase the skills that the girls have. We were there in the Boneyard riding the same features as the boys, which is great exposure for these ladies.
