Wed, 12 Aug 15:54:00 2009

With the Relentless Boardmasters kicking off the competition season this side of the pond, the eyes of Europe's surf enthusiasts have now turned to the Grade-2 Oakley Pro Junior, going down at Lacanau Ocean in France tomorrow.

Over 150 surfers will be rocking up to the prestigious event, including 15 year-old Hawaiian sensation John John Florence and French ripper, Marc Lacomare of Hossegor. European ratings leader, Jatyr Berasaluce will be looking to take his first win of the season, having had two second place finishes at the last two events in Sopelena and San Sebastian.

Marc Lacomare is a strong favourite for the title, and will be looking to build on his win at the season opener. A regular in Europes top surfing magazines, Lacomares talent is now recognised throughout the surfing world and he is in a strong position to make a claim for the 2009 Under-21 European title.

Alizee Arnaud, yet another local from France famous Hossegor surf spot, and current ratings leader, is looking good for the overall European Womens Junior title, having shown consistency throughout the season. She will however, have close competition from the 15 year-old Johanne Defay of the Basque Country. World Qualifying Series competitor, and French sensation Lee-Ann Curren will also be confident of the win in what will undoubtedly be a closely fought contest.
