We caught up with Commonwealth Games road race silver medallist Lizzie Armitstead to discover her love of Roger Federer and mattresses.

Who is your sporting hero?

I don't have a sporting hero particularly: I am inspired by people, yes, and I look up to people, yes. But anyone specific? No, not really.

If you were not a cyclist, what would you be doing?

Right now I would be travelling. That is what I have always wanted to do. I love it!

If your house was burning down, what one possession would you save?

My car keys, no doubt about it.

If you could sit down for dinner with any three people, who would they be?

Will Smith, Roger Federer (don't tell the boyfriend!), and I guess I had better pick a woman... Beyonce.

What do you get up to in your spare time?

I do quite a lot of reading, and I sleep an awful lot. I probably sleep too much if I am honest, but there you go. Oh, and Skype... I spend a lot of time on Skype.

What is your most annoying habit?

I am a bit of a clean freak, and that can be terribly annoying for the people who live with me. What can I say?

What is the worst music you have ever bought?

It would have to be The Corrs. That is very embarrassing!

What is the most embarrassing moment you have had on your bike?

Falling off your bike is the most embarrassing thing possible, and I have done that a few times. I once knocked another girl off her bike in the World Championships which was also pretty embarrassing.

Which former team-mate would you have the most fun with on a night out?

It would definitely have to be Iris Slappendel, who is an absolutely crazy Dutch rider. We would have a great time together and it would be a right laugh!

If you could advertise one product, what would it be?

I would advertise any brand of mattress. I just love sleeping and I do it so much that to advertise them would make sense.

You're allowed to make one novelty change to your sport... what would you do?

What would be a laugh? It would be really funny if all the climbers had to start 20 minutes behind the rest of the field... it would be hilarious.
