Wed 12 Dec, 04:15 PM

Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora believes the confidence is returning to the squad after Sunday's crucial win over Manchester City.Pascal Chimbonda and Jermain Defoe grabbed the goals at White Hart Lane as Spurs recorded only their third Premier League victory of the season.

Zokora, who has shown his versatility by playing in the back four in recent weeks, told the club's official website: "City is a great team and played well, but we knew we needed three points because when we looked at the table, it's not too good. It was an important moment.

"It was a physical game, City put a lot of pressure on and we didn't make any mistakes.

"They had one chance and scored one goal and after that we pushed forward, pressed and we really wanted to win. When I look at the table now we're up to 13th and we're happier.

"The fans give us so much, they motivate us. I'm happy to win 1-0, 2-1 or 3-0, I just want to win. To beat City was fantastic. I looked at everyone the next morning and every player was happy and we're all now confident going to Portsmouth."
