Maros Klimpl hopes the advice of former Celtic manager Josef Venglos can help him extend his stay at Motherwell. The Slovakian waited almost three months for his debut after arriving on loan from Danish side FC Midtjylland with an ankle injury that proved far more serious than first thought.
Klimpl eventually made his Motherwell debut in their 2-0 defeat at Aberdeen and aims to keep his place for Monday's Scottish Premier League clash with Kilmarnock.
The 28-year-old is looking to convince Mark McGhee to keep him on for the remainder of the season, and follow compatriot Lubomir Moravcik in making his mark in Scotland.
"It is great to be fit and to finally play for Motherwell," said Klimpl, who has 19 caps for Slovakia.
"My deal here expires on December 31 and I just have to wait and see what happens.
"I would like to stay at Motherwell but I have to convince the manager to keep me.
"I have been here for four months and I have only played one game so I haven't been able to show him what I can do.
"All I can do is try to play well over the next few games and if I can do that and help us to win a few games then it is up to the manager."
Klimpl added: "I know Josef Venglos because he is the co-ordinator for our national team and I speak to him a lot.
"We are always talking about football and I know he did well at Celtic along with Moravcik.
"It would be good if I could also show the Scottish public that I am also a good player during my time here, no matter how long it lasts."
Well have slumped to third bottom in the SPL after picking up one point from a possible 15 but Klimpl insists they are good enough to shoot up the table.
"For the moment the team have struggled but I believe we have the potential to do a lot better," he told the club's official website.
"I have watched all our games and I think on top form we can beat anybody in the league."
