Our man at Carrow Road reminisces about the halcyon days of the Milk Cup.

What do you think of the manager? Is there anyone (realistic) out there who would do a better job?

Roeder was onto a winner either way last season - keep us up and he was a miracle worker, if we went down, it was not really his fault after the appalling start and taking on a team rock bottom. However, this season it is essentially his team albeit mostly loan signings (we have no cash for new men) and they have underperformed far too often.

When they are good, City can beat the best (like when they thrashed Wolves 5-2 at home) and the derby victory took the pressure off for a while. However, if things go down hill again in the new year, then his neck could be on the line. If he got the bullet, I would say give legend Bryan Gunn a go. He was once the Sherriff of Norwich and certainly would not take any funny business.

Who is the best player you've seen playing for another team this season - and who do you fear losing in January?

I always said that Chris Iwelumo bloke looked a decent player, and so has proved this season. We should have bought him along with Cureton from Colchester, but what do I know? The City loan rangers are likely to head back to their parent clubs in January. Glenn, though, knows enough people to get some more in. A few of those young Gunners would do nicely.

What was your first match or oldest memory of the club?

My Uncle Billy got me into following the Canaries (as well as an attraction to darts, snooker and other pub games), and the first match we went to see was in the early 1980s, against QPR at home. I took my teddy bear, who was nicknamed Mick Channon. A triumphant Wembley appearance would soon follow in the Milk Cup final. Apart from the odd decent season (we nearly won the Premier League once you know), it has pretty much been all hard graft being a City fan since then. Stockport away during the fuel crisis. Say no more.

Are you happy with the present hierarchy at the club?

Delia Smith's recipe for success at Carrow Road has turned very sour indeed. The board should have sacked Worthington (who did an amazing job getting us up, but was then proved out of his depth in the top flight) earlier and not been hoodwinked by Peter Grant, who talked a good game but could not deliver. She may be the club's saviour (literally), but now is the time for fresh ideas, both on and off the pitch, rather than just relying on keeping the faith that using frozen mash is just as good as making your own from scratch.

What is the relationship like between the club and the fans? Are ticket prices fair?

For some reason, there are 25,000 of us mad enough to keep going week in, week out. Even when we are clearly pants. That is unlikely to change, even should we go down.. after all, what else is there to do in Norfolk? Should be more kids for a quid days, but generally shelling out the best part of £20 seems to make sense, well most of the time

  1. Debry fans - so delusional. We had a bad day at the office when Norwich did us 5-2 but to be fair we had a player sent off and our keeper had "a mare"; every shot Norwich had hit the back of the net and it was an ex Wolves player who started the scoring!

Derby are the worst team I have seen at the Molinuex full of no talent ex-Albion players. You earned the worst record in the Premiership for a reason and I saw it the other night.

  2. if you actually read the article it said beat anybody on their day , sadly there are to few good days like when we lost to the crappest team in derbyshire twice and i should know , i would rather make the round trip to norwich any day than the 20 min run to derby...
