McCall praise for hat-trick hero

Sun 13 Jan, 06:00 PM

Bradford boss Stuart McCall praised striker Peter Thorne after the 3-0 win against Notts County marked their biggest victory of the season. The 34-year-old striker, who joined Bradford from Norwich in the summer, has been plagued by injury in the last two seasons, but showed his class by scoring Bradford's first hat-trick for nearly two years.

"Peter Thorne scored a terrific hat-trick," said a delighted McCall.

"It's a shame he was out injured in the pre-season and in the early part of the campaign, but he's a clever striker with a good goalscoring record at higher levels.

"His all-round play merits more goals than he scores.

"We have enjoyed what we have done. We have won three out of our last four matches and it is nice to put a few wins together, but we have got to be striving to be better."
