Tilson desperate to sign strikers

Sun 13 Jan, 05:30 PM

Southend manager Steve Tilson is desperate to find some strikers as his forward crisis deepened following their 1-1 draw with Yeovil.Leon Clarke and Dean Morgan's loan deals have expired, while the Shrimpers boss has now lost Charlie MacDonald for a month with a leg injury and Matt Harrold for one game after he was sent off for two bookings.

"We were short of strikers before this game but now we are very short," said Tilson. "It's imperative that we get two or three strikers in."

Southend were set to record a first win in six when Nick Bailey fired his side into the lead before Lloyd Owusu equalised after Glovers skipper Terry Skiverton had seen an effort ruled out for offside.

"We are just not getting the rub of the green at the moment but I know it will change soon. We should have won," added Tilson.

He is chasing Plymouth's Rory Fallon and has had a bid accepted by Charlton for youngster James Walker, who was on loan at Yeovil.
