Baggies silent on Bednar reports

Tue 13 Jan, 01:00 PM

West Brom have refused to comment on reports that Tottenham want Roman Bednar after his agent claimed he was a target for Harry Redknapp.Pavel Zika, Bednar's representative, revealed the Czech Republic striker was being watched by the Spurs boss as he bids to add more firepower to his attack.

Spurs have not commented on the speculation, but the Birmingham Mail claim West Brom have no plans to cash in on the six-goal striker.

Zika had told a Czech news agency: "We know of the Tottenham interest, of course, but there are also other Premier League clubs who want Roman. I cannot be more specific now.

"In terms of scoring, Bednar has joined players like (Cristiano) Ronaldo, (Frank) Lampard or (Steven) Gerrard, who have scored only a few more goals than him.

"And, as there is always interest in skilful scorers, Bednar's move from West Bromwich Albion during this transfer window is not ruled out."

It is not the first time there have been misleading reports emerging from the Bednar camp.

There were contrasting claims during the summer that he was unhappy with the terms being offered by Albion following promotion.

Those proved to be unfounded and, at the time, were swiftly rejected by Albion.
