Campo blow hits Ipswich plans

Tue 13 Jan, 12:30 PM

Ipswich have suffered a blow after learning defender Ivan Campo has been ruled out for three weeks with a torn calf muscle. The former Real Madrid and Bolton man was recalled by manager Jim Magilton over Christmas and won glowing praise for his form alongside Gareth McAuley.

But he was substituted in the second half of the 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend and a scan has confirmed the extent of the injury.

Physio Matt Byard told the club's official website: "Ivan has had a scan and there is a tear to his calf muscle.

"It is probably going to be about three weeks before we can get him out on the training ground and then he's got to get back to match fitness from there."
