Nigel Clough admits he is planning a purge of Derby County's oversized squad in the coming weeks as he looks to turn the Rams' fortunes.Clough inherited a huge squad from his predecessor Paul Jewell and is keen to offload a number of players to ease the financial burden and build team morale.
"There are too many players and we need to get some out and playing football somewhere," he told the club's official website.
"The chairman is on the case there and if we can do that then I think it relieves the burden all-round really, financially and having that number of players around.
"We can only play 11 and when you've got mid 30s to late 30s there are 20-odd unhappy players before you start putting names on the teamsheet.
"One slight problem is the beautiful surroundings we are in, players might want to stick around a bit longer than normal."
