Following Subaru's sudden pullout of the World Rally Championship, former titleholder Petter Solberg was left without a drive to his name only weeks before the 2009 season begins.
His absence at this month's season-opening Rally Ireland has already been confirmed, and since the Subaru shocker the Norwegian has been working hard on finding a solution which will allow him to participate in his nation's WRC round.
Subaru recently announced that Solberg had been released from his contract, a decision leaving him free to drive any make of car. Rally Norway pushed back the deadline for filing entry forms by one week, a move obviously aimed at giving Solberg extra time to work things out.
It seems to have helped – at least in part – as Solberg today announced his possible participation in the event, with co-driver Phill Mills again at his side in the co-driver's seat.
"Today I can confirm my entry for Rally Norway, without a car, but with Phil as my co-driver," he wrote on his website.
"I'm still working flat out to find a solution regarding the car, and will let you know as soon as I have more news," Solberg concluded.
