Slovakian left-back Marek Cech has revealed he wants to leave West Brom after claiming he feels like he has "been lied to" by manager Tony Mowbray.

Cech maintains Mowbray broke a promise to play him in Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at Aston Villa, instead preferring the returning Paul Robinson in the 2-1 defeat.

With Robinson suspended for the recent home match with Tottenham, Cech was finally handed a rare start, and performed superbly in a 2-0 win.

Although he retained his place for the 1-1 FA Cup draw at home to Peterborough, he was relegated back to the bench for the game with Villa.

The international defender, who joined Albion in a £1.4million deal from Porto last summer, now appears to have had enough of life at The Hawthorns.

"I feel like I've been lied to," said Cech, speaking to a Slovakian news agency, with the quotes reported in the Birmingham Mail.

"I felt I'd played well enough in the two previous games to play against Aston Villa, but the manager decided to pick Robinson, which I feel was wrong.

"As far as I'm concerned, I want to leave West Bromwich. I haven't been given the opportunities to play that I believe I warrant."

Italian club Napoli are rumoured to be interested, but Cech added: "I've had no concrete offers from Napoli, but if I was then I'd want to speak to them."

It is not the first time Cech has spoken out in relation to apparent broken promises and his desire to leave the club.

Just after Christmas, Cech insisted when he signed for Albion he was told by Mowbray he would be a regular.

But after starting the first game of the season - a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal - in an unaccustomed right-midfield role, Cech played just 61 minutes of league football in four substitute appearances prior to figuring against Tottenham.

Cech felt such a lack of inactivity was hampering his chances on the international front, and he conceded he had considered moving on in the January transfer window.

And now his resolve has now seemingly snapped.

One player on his way in is Benfica striker Ariza Makukula, who is poised to join Albion on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old, who has played for nine clubs in 10 years, is due to sign for the Baggies pending the outcome of a medical.

The Portugal international, who is of Congolese descent, only joined Benfica a year ago in a £3million deal from Sevilla.

Benfica signed Makukula on the strength of a successful loan spell at Maritimo where he scored seven goals in 13 appearances.

But Makukula has failed to reproduce the same kind of form with Benfica, who are making him available on a permanent deal in the summer should he prove successful at The Hawthorns.
