Police have charged 11 people with indecent chanting aimed at Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell during a match against Tottenham in September.
The men were arrested in connection with alleged racist and homophobic chanting towards former Tottenham captain Campbell during the game at Fratton Park.
The 11, including three juveniles, have been bailed by police to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on January 20.
A Hampshire police spokeswoman said a further five men captured in photographs taken at the game were still being sought.
Those charged are Dean Nelson, 23, of Southbury Road, Enfield, north London; Bradley Barnes, 35, of Malmesbury Park Road, Bournemouth, Dorset; Oliver Silvester, 28, of High Street, Southampton, Hampshire; Stuart Turner, 34, of Queen Street, Wellington, Telford, Shropshire; Richard Allen Gibbs, 35, of Ormonde Road, Wokingham, Berkshire; Ian Trow, 48, of Kingshill Drive, Deans Hanger, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire; Keith Stevens, 54, of Portland Close, Hailsham, East Sussex and Joe Turner, 18, of The Lindons, Langdon Hills, Basildon, Essex.
The three youths charged were a 15-year-old from Winchmore Hill, north London, a 15-year-old from Purley, Surrey, and a 13-year-old from Deans Hanger, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
The police spokeswoman added no further action would be taken against another man, aged 18, from Essex.

David B etc. They are getting charged as it was meant as a slur.........~If you said to Rooney "you straight white man" it wouldn't be insulting but that's the point. They were using words like "black" and "queer" as an insult not merely pointing out what his background could be.
i think it was totally out of order for a player to have to listen to any chanting like sol did, however...... i do believe it could have been dealt with between the two clubs, without the police taking it on first. if clubs were made to take action in the first instance, and ban people like this, maybe it would be the deterrant needed so that the already stretched police dont have to take up the case. ultimatly, being banned from grounds will hurt these people more than a fine etc. cant see them doing any time. the police need to make clubs responsible for who they let in, they cant just take the money and then cry to the police that they dont like the behaviour.
See what i mean matt b, one of your fellow supporters, good to see you could join us rock and roll, NOT ,I just wonder wether on such a subject you should be airing your childish, rude and insulting comments.
YVONNE, YOUR TOWN IS THE BIGGEST FILTHY DOG @#$% PILE, IN BRITAIN....................YOU ARE THE UGLIEST AND BY FAR, THE MOST DIGUSTING BREED THAT EVER WALKED THIS NATION.........................GET OVER IT...................HAVE YOU SQUEEZED INTO THAT LITTLE SIZE 22 YOU WERE DREAMING ABOUT?
david.b you have written a disgraceful comment, i would take a guess that u r a racist too!!
Post 11
What's got your goat Spirit? I'm merely pointing out that the mature right-thinking British citizen would rather the the police use our hard-earned cash for the fight against real crime. Being rude or offensive may be in bad taste but don't you reckon the manpower devoted to this case in the last month could have been better used elsewhere? And talking about offensive, didn't you call me uncivilized? Shall we send the Hampshire County Constabulary out looking for you too? I've not been abusive to anyone, unlike you, so you still reckon you have more right to this forum than me? How missguided you really are!
I wouldnt know. Im a POMPEY FAN and proud of it, As for some of your fellow supporters comments, towards the people of portsmouth and the city were really uncalled for and exteremly insulting ( im refering to the story of pompey V man city being called off ) check it out........
johnston_yvonne, how about all the West ham fans who hiss at Spurs fans in reference to the gas chambers, or is that ok?
I notice they have only been charged with indecent and NOT Racial chanting, so lets all complain about the pompey fans chanting about Harry and Jermaine and see if the police in London can spare some time from chasing muggers murderers and proper criminals to go out and arrest their football fans!!
just like the asbo gives them something to boast about. pointless as it hapens more on sites like this
Richard C... Ever since the Race Relations Act of 1976
. . . and that goes also for you Richard C.
I think david b deserves to be charged for being sympathetic to racists and banned from this site for LIFE!!! People like him have no place in footy and neither do they have a place on a civilized forum like this.
Since when has mentioning the colour of someones skin and their sexual prefrence been a crime?
If someone made up a song calling ME a 'white heterosexual' would they get charged for it?
Tottenham couldnt ban fans that are racist, homophobic or insulting, thereyd have hardly any fans left, I do hope however that Sol Campbell recieves individual apologise from each one of them and a public one from tottenham football club, so pompey good luck for tonite PLAY UP POMPEY
we should do the same for paedos
What an absolute waste of police resources. Surely we pay our taxes so that police can catch murderers, rapists & terrorists? Can't do none of that but boy are you in trouble if you sing a naughty song these days....
Poor quality team has poor quality fans
Let's hope the football club follow suit and ban them for life
JUST LOCK THE RACISTS B STARDS UP FOR 2 YEAR AND BAN THEM FROM EVERY GROUND FOR LIFE.
