Transfers - Transfer Talk: Heskey to Liverpool

Eurosport - Tue, 13 Jan 07:07:00 2009

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a pre-contract with 'prolific' Wigan hitman Emile Heskey, according to the ever-reliable Daily Mail.

FOOTBALL 2008 Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey - 0

The England forward will arrive at Anfield as a free agent in the summer for what TT can only assume will be a large chunk of change. After all, what self-respecting striker would sign for a manager who hates playing strikers?

The move would represent Heskey's second spell at Liverpool and Rafa Benitez is surely hoping he can improve on his tally of 38 goals from 150 league starts the first time around.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is eyeing Sunderland's Kenwyne Jones, but a £12 million pricetag seems likely to scupper that deal long before a pre-pre contract can be hurried off.

Over at Newcastle there is interest in bringing Manchester City striker Jo in on loan as a partner for Michael Owen.

City manager Mark Hughes will fill the void with pintsize scallion Craig Bellamy, who is plying his trade at West Ham but has surely upset enough people in East London to be rushed off for a nice little profit.

Hughes knows Bellamy well from his time playing for and managing the Welsh national side, so as rumours go this one has substance.

Talking of unlikeable forwards, Sunderland's El Hadji Diouf has been targeted by his former boss at Bolton, Sam Allaryce, who is desperate to instill some nastiness in his Blackburn line-up.

Diouf's arrival could facilitate Roque Santa Cruz's departure to Manchester City, with a figure of £20m being floated around with complete disregard to the credit crunch.

Blackburn have been embarrassed in their attempts to sign Lee Keun-ho, after the South Korea international rejected the offer of a trial. TT can only assume the defender is waiting for offers from a big club - like Blackpool.

Finally, and least interestingly, to Fulham, who have apparently entered the race to save John-Joe O'Toole from the obscurity of the Watford midfield.

Quite how many runners are in this race is hard to say, but Fulham are winning by some margin this morning and barring a Paula Radcliffe moment should win comfortably.

  1. why do the poignant and relevant comments get invalid comment but i see so many uncouth haters, abusive and swearing getting in so often?????

  2. I like Liverpool and would like to see them win the title but why bring back a player that was slated for having no touch constantly injured and poor scoring record plus these days you only play with 1 up and i doubt Torres will be dropped or happy about sitting on the bench.

Lucas is poor and needs to go Aurelio is not the best along with Dossena,Deggen,Pennant and N'gog if these players are moved on and a couple of shrewd buys were brought in then maybe Liverpool will do it.

As for the Keane carry on Benitez was stupid in the 1st place for spending £20 mil on him but when he starts to hit the goal trail then why drop him completely if I was Keane then i would not be happy also if i was a liverpool fan then I would would want more value for money but Keane is no better than £12 mill player.

What planet are you living on?
Owen back to the Pool? get real!
His hams are about as relaible as a Jaguar motor - you would need two Owens, one for the pitch, and another one who would always be on the treatment table.
Rafa has enough dead wood already. Don't go there, just because Micheal has got a few great goals lately. He'll be crocked again within a month, you can depend on that.

TT, wake up and quit spewing drivel.

  5. Mgaya 127, you got that right:
The sooner we see the back of Lucas, the better.
    What a waste of space!!
What a passenger slowing the Reds train down!
He likes to talk the talk, but he can't walk the walk, let alone run it.
There's one who SHOULD Walk Alone! Out the door! Now!!

  7. Its easy -- Rafa should sell keane and bring in Owen to play alongside Torres - remember the old Liverpool pairings up front - Keep Kuyt and play him behind the front two alongside Steve Gerard. With Alonso and Macheranoin midfield and the back four of Carrahger, Skirtel, Agger and Arbeloar. On the bench with players like Riera etc.what a team.

  8. Also if Heskey came to Liverpool there isn't much chance of him playing for England "though that'll be no great loss either"

  12. reason that keano has not performed is coz he has not played, and i dont think there is a player in the team who thinks like he does, probably the most under rated player in the league but its a shame that he doesnt play alot coz i think that he is the guy that can win us the long awaited league

  14. is benitez mad or something 'heskey? i've heard it all now, benitez is a great manager but he dont know much about english football yet, hence some of his rediculous discissions on and off the pitch. it saddens me to say it but i cant see as winning the title with benitez, i'm a supporter of him but his dropping too much silly points against little teams, after wasting money on keane he wants to bring in heskey crazy.

  18. And then donkey kong (Huskey) gets injured......and then what. The whole move would be as disasterous as Michael Owen moving there too.

  19. To all those non manu supporters let it be known that Sir Alex is "GREAT" because he "means" business and a mean real business. Not Wenger day dreaming kind and of course mile apart from Lpool so called coach. Why on earth would any manager in his rightful mind sign this br. You wanna win titles you sign title winners and build a team of title winners. Benitez, plz go look for better players n keeping Lpool's hope...
