Mick McCarthy insists he is unconcerned by Wolves' league position despite losing further ground after a goalless draw at Blackpool.Wolves conceded seven goals in losing their last two matches and they failed to get their promotion hopes back on track in a dismal encounter at Bloomfield Road
Blackpool's Gary Taylor-Fletcher hit the crossbar midway through the second half while Sylvan Ebanks-Blake hit a post for Wolves just a minute later and although the visitors looked the likeliest winners, they did not do enough to warrant the three points.
Wolves remain 12th and are now four points adrift of the top six, but McCarthy refuses to pay attention to the league table with 14 matches remaining.
"I've not even looked. I'm not bothered at the moment because it will matter come the end of April and beginning of May, so we'll see where we are then," he said.
"I get a bit tired of everybody reminding us of this position, that position and three points, two points or five points.
"At the moment, this is a good point for us. Bearing in mind we've just conceded seven goals in two games, it was important that we stopped the rot."
Although Wolves failed to find a breakthrough in a match of few chances, McCarthy was pleased with his side's performance and felt it marked progress on their recent defeat by Watford and Stoke.
"It was a clean sheet and I think we needed that," he said.
"There weren't too many goalmouth incidents but I think we had a few more than they hit.
"There will be some who argue that we should come here and win but I don't subscribe to that because I think Blackpool are a decent side.
"Although we had a few chances, I'll take the goalless draw and I'll take the point."
The results saw Blackpool stretch their unbeaten run to three games and allowed the Seasiders to take another step towards securing their Championship status.
While the hosts had chances of their own, manager Simon Grayson was pleased to have held one of last season's beaten play-off teams.
"It was a hard-fought game with tackles flying in and I thought it was a fair result because we had a couple of chances and they did as well," he said.
"Wolves were looking to keep it tight after their previous games and we probably didn't have that cutting edge in the final third.
"But we want to be hard to beat as well, we want to make sure we keep clean sheets to give us the opportunity to try to go and win games.
"In the second half both teams tried to do that and we're happy to take a point out of it.
"We've not taken five points from nine against Leicester, Hull and Wolves, who are three big teams."
