Hull boss Phil Brown has revealed that Dean Windass has undergone surgery on a damaged cartilage and will be out for between seven and 10 days. The veteran forward missed Tuesday's draw against Norwich and the Tigers could now be without their top scorer for up to 10 days while he recovers.

Brown told the club's official website: "Dean has had an exploratory operation which usually keeps people out for between seven and 10 days.

"He's had some cartilage trimmed and knowing Dean, he'll want to be back for this Saturday."

Windass joins Bryan Hughes, who also underwent surgery on damaged cartilage after injuring his left knee against Blackpool, in the Tigers treatment room.
