Furious Chester manager Bobby Williamson apologised to his side's travelling fans after they were thumped 6-2 by Dagenham and Redbridge.City slipped to their sixth defeat in seven league matches despite goals from Kevin Roberts and John Murphy.
Williamson said: "I feel really sorry for the fans, they've had to travel a long distance for a midweek game and we play like that.
"They've got to travel miles back home again now and it makes me really angry with the players."
