Barnsley's assistant manager Ryan Kidd believes clubs looking to avoid relegation from the Championship this season will require 53 points.Barnsley finished eight points clear of Southend last season, who were relegated on 42 points, but the Championship is much closer at the bottom end this time around.
Kidd told the club's official website: "The table can drive you nuts at the moment if you sit and analyse it every week.
"We are more concerned with the number of points we have on the board.
"We have our target from the start of the season and it is still within our reach.
"I think probably 52 or 53 points will be the safety mark this season, but we want more than that."
