Boss: Sky Blues must take chances

Thu 13 Mar, 04:45 PM

Coventry boss Chris Coleman has backed his side to hit the goal trail sooner rather than later as the Sky Blues prepare for a relegation fight.City have slipped to within two points and two places of the Championship relegation zone after scoring just twice from open play in their last nine matches.

Coventry continue their fight for survival at home to fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and Coleman said: "Somebody is going to get a hiding if we keep making chances.

"If we had put away our chances in the last couple of home games we would probably have had seven or eight goals. The most important thing is we keep creating chances and if the strikers keep getting in those dangerous areas the ball will go in the back of the net.

"We say to the lads to keep doing what they are doing because they deserve more than what they have got.

"We have got Michael Mifsud on one side and Jay Tabb on the other and Kevin Thornton playing in the hole, and they are doing very well for us because they look exciting going forward."
