Colchester chairman Robbie Cowling insists manager Geraint Williams' job is safe - even if the Us are relegated this season.Williams took over from Phil Parkinson after Colchester were promoted two seasons ago and led them to 10th in their first-ever Championship campaign.
However, the Us have struggled second time around and are now 10 points adrift of safety and staring at a return to League One.
But Cowling told the Colchester Gazette: "We are 100% behind Geraint.
"If we were on a par with the clubs in our division and attracting the same huge budgets and crowds and were bottom of the table, it might be different, but Geraint has done a fantastic job.
"There are no concerns about him and I absolutely expect him to still be manager next season."
