DUBLIN (AFP) - Ireland full-back Geordan Murphy has been passed fit to play in this weekend's Six Nations rugby union international away to England.
Murphy was a doubt for Saturday's match at Twickenham, the teams' last of this season's Six Nations, with the Achilles injury that forced him to miss Ireland's 16-12 defeat at home to Championship leaders Wales last weekend.
But he was given the all-clear Thursday after passing a fitness test during Ireland's training session at University College Dublin.
Now Ireland will hope the Leicester playmaker can produce the kind of performance that saw him made man-of-the-match when Ireland beat Scotland 34-13 at Croke Park last month in what was Murphy's last Test appearance.
Ireland will be seeking their fifth successive win over World Cup finalists England and a third straight victory at Twickenham.
Both sides have lost twice in this season's Six Nations which means they will kick-off on Saturday knowing neither of them can win the title.
