David Moyes saw his Everton side tumble out of the UEFA Cup after a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
Fiorentina went through to the quarter-finals after winning the spot-kick showdown 4-2, following misses from Yakubu and Phil Jagielka.
It was cruel luck on Everton, who had battled back to forced extra-time thanks to goals from Andrew Johnson and Mikel Arteta.
