A consortium fronted by football agent Paul Davies have revealed they could launch a rescue bid before time runs out for crisis club Gretna.
Gretna, who are in administration, face closure on Thursday unless they can raise £30,000 to pay overdue wages and meet the costs of their trip to face Aberdeen on Saturday.
Funding from chief backer Brooks Mileson has come to an end, but Davies believes the SPL's bottom side can be saved.
He told The Sun: "We're shocked this has come out, we only spoke to the administrator at 2pm on Wednesday.
"We have a strong interest but we've not looked at the figures."
The consortium would look to cut costs at Raydale Park, with relegation looming even if Gretna survive this latest financial scare.
Davies added: "We'll pay lower wages and look to link up with a Premiership side. This is a serious bid."
