Ipswich have suffered a huge blow after forward Jon Walters was ruled out of the remainder of the season with ruptured ankle ligaments.

The 2008 club player of the year picked up the injury during the goalless draw with Championship leaders Wolves and his loss will be a major blow for manager Jim Magilton.

Physio Matt Byard told the club's official website: "The scan has shown that Jon has ruptured his ankle ligaments and he won't play again this season.

"The plan now is to take specialist advice but surgery is a possibility. I can see his rehab continuing throughout the summer."

Walters has scored five goals in the league this season, playing behind Jon Stead and Pablo Counago.
