McAllister hails fit-again Freedman

Sun 13 Apr, 03:15 PM

Leeds manager Gary McAllister hailed striker Dougie Freedman for defying sickness to edge a five-goal thriller against high-flying Carlisle. The Crystal Palace frontman scored twice as the Whites avenged the defeat they suffered at Brunton Park in November and boosted their play-off hopes in the process.

Jonny Howson was also on target for the hosts, Scott Dobie and Danny Graham scoring for the visitors.

McAllister said: "Dougie was sent home from the hotel on Friday night with a sickness bug but after a light breakfast he said he wanted to play.

"I have spoken before about his guile and he has a touch of class, but he did well physically to get through the game."
