McParland thanks County faithful

Sun 13 Apr, 07:15 PM

Notts County manager Ian McParland credited chairman John Armstrong-Holmes for the 1-0 win against Accrington that edged them towards safety.Armstrong-Holmes persuaded Nottingham Police to allow County fans to take over the Kop Stand - an area normally reserved for visiting supporters - and more than 3,000 joined forces at that end to roar County to victory with Ryan Jarvis scoring the winner.

McParland said: "In professional football you need every scrap of help you can get and it was a shrewd move by the chairman.

"The crowd were fantastic, especially in the first half, and they stuck with us all the way through.

"The players needed that because they are bound to get edgy with the position we are in."
