Onuora hails brave Imps display

Sun 13 Apr, 05:45 PM

Lincoln assistant manager Iffy Onuora praised the battling spirit of his team after they hung on for a 2-1 victory at Chester.Alan Marriott saved an early Kevin Ellison spot-kick before Jamie Forrester's quick-fire brace erased Paul McManus' opener, and the Imps retained their advantage in the second half despite Danny N'Guessan seeing red 20 minutes from time.

Onuora said: "It was very hard to defend against Chester's aerial threat and we were a little bit loose at the back early on but I think we got better as the game wore on.

"Our movement in the final third is good and we are a quite an attack-minded side but we got caught a couple of times. I have to give credit to the lads who kept going in adversity."

On the sending-off of N'Guessan, Onuora added: "I felt there was going to be a sending-off in the game because the referee was quick to make decisions.

"I thought Danny was unlucky to get sent off for two innocuous offences and it seems like it is too easy to send people off these days."
