France midfielder Franck Ribery wants to move to Barcelona, his Bayern Munich team mate and captain Mark van Bommel has said.
Ribery has long been linked with a move away from Bayern, with a number of Premier League clubs understood to be interested in the forward, along with the top sides from Spain and Italy.
The France star was signed by the German side from Marseille in 2007 for a club-record 25 million euros (£24.4 million), but Van Bommel now believes that the 26-year-old is ready for a new challenge.
"Franck has told me he wants to play for Barcelona," Van Bommel, a former Barca player, told Spanish radio station RAC1.
"He is the best player in Germany and his style of play would fit well with Barca's because he is strong with great technical ability."
Bayern host the La Liga leaders in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, looking to overturn a 4-0 deficit from last week.
