Fernando Torres leads the line for our Premier League team of the week, while West Brom, Hull and Manchester City make generous contributions to the flops XI.
HOW IT WORKS
We tot up the marks out of 10 awarded in five national newspapers - The Sun, The Mirror, The Mail, The Times and The Guardian - to create a total out of 50. The top player in each position will be rewarded with a spot in the team of the week, while the worst scorers will be named and shamed in our Flops XI.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
TOTW goalkeeper Paul Robinson was a busy man at Anfield, as Liverpool hammered Blackburn, but the former England number one made a string of fine reflex saves. Abdoulaye Faye was the stand-out defender, scoring for Stoke in their crucial relegation clash with Newcastle, while Daniel Agger also got on the scoresheet with a long-range drive.
Gareth Barry was the top midfielder, leading his side to a dramatic comeback against Everton at Villa Park, while Steven Pienaar makes a rare appearance after his emphatic strike in the same game. Theo Walcott pips James Milner to the right-midfield spot, while Frank Lampard was in commanding form against Bolton.
The player of the week was undoubtedly Fernando Torres, who notched up 41 points as a result of his two-goal performance against Blackburn - the first of which was an absolute screamer. Didier Drogba also scored twice in his side's victory over Bolton to earn his place.
Team of the week (3-5-2):
GK: Paul Robinson (Blackburn) - 37
DF: Ledley King (Tottenham) - 35

DF: Daniel Agger (Liverpool) - 36
RM: Theo Walcott (Arsenal) - 37
CM: Gareth Barry (Aston Villa) - 38
CM: Frank Lampard (Chelsea) - 37
CM: Javier Mascherano (Liverpool) - 37
LM: Steven Pienaar (Everton) - 37
FW: Fernando Torres (Liverpool) - 41
FW: Didier Drogba (Chelsea) - 38
FLOPS OF THE WEEK
A dreadful weekend for Hull, and Manchester City sees both teams contribute two players to the FOTW side, while Scott Carson is between the posts again. Keith Andrews's sluggish display at Liverpool sees him slot in at right-back, while Richard Dunne's pitiful performance against Fulham leaves him as the captain of the team.
In midfield, Bernard Mendy came off at half-time for Phil Brown's side, while Chris Brunt and Hayden Mullins hardly distinguished themselves at Fratton Park. Michael Brown was substituted before he would have surely been sent-off against Arsenal.
Shola Ameobi failed to mark Faye as Newcastle conceded a vital goal against Stoke, without managing to atone for his error at the other end of the field, while Johan Elmander was very ineffectual against Chelsea.
Flops of the week (4-4-2):
GK: Scott Carson (West Bromwich Albion) - 25
RB: Keith Andrews (Blackburn) - 25
CB: Richard Dunne (Manchester City) - 20
CB: Micah Richards (Manchester City) - 25
LB: Kamil Zayatte (Hull) - 25
RM: Bernard Mendy (Hull) - 25

CM: Hayden Mullins (Portsmouth) - 25
LM: Chris Brunt (West Bromwich Albion) - 25
FW: Shola Ameobi (Newcastle) - 26
FW: Johan Elmander (Bolton) - 24
TEAM OF THE SEASON (minimum 10 starts)
They say the cream rises to the top, well TOTW captain Fernando Torres fittingly pushes Craig Bellamy out of the side and Frank Lampard finds a place in central midfield alongside Steven Gerrard, with Xabi Alonso making way.
GK: Shay Given (Manchester City) - 33.97 average
RB: Jose Bosingwa (Chelsea) - 31.55
CB: Michael Turner (Hull City) - 33.32
CB: Martin Laursen (Aston Villa) - 33.84
LB: Patrice Evra (Manchester United) - 31.73
RM: Antonio Valencia (Wigan Athletic) - 33.27
CM: Frank Lampard (Chelsea) - 34.91
CM: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) - 35.46
LM: Ashley Young (Aston Villa) - 33.08
FW: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) - 34.35
FW: Fernando Torres (Liverpool) - 35.53
FLOPS OF THE SEASON (minimum 10 starts)
Scott Carson is finally awarded his place in the side after stooping below Heurelho Gomes in terms of poor performances. Benoit Assou-Ekotto keeps his right-back berth courtesy of Newcastle's David Edgar not playing enough games, but expect him to displace the Spurs defender in the coming weeks.
GK: Scott Carson (West Bromwich Albion) average 29.77
RB: Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Tottenham) - 28.96
CB: Andre Ooijer (Blackburn) - 28.54
CB: Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle) - 27.87
LB: Jose Enrique (Newcastle) - 26.65
RM: Julien Faubert (West Ham United) - 27.67
CM: Keith Andrews (Blackburn Rovers) - 28.35
CM: Amdy Faye (Stoke City) - 27.47
LM: Chris Brunt (West Bromwich Albion) - 28.24
FW: Roman Pavlyuchenko (Tottenham Hotspur) - 27.54
FW: Dave Kitson (Stoke) - 27.2
Comment 50 - 69 of 69
Team of season with no everton player must be a joke. As for Ashley Young surely he is diver and cheat of season.
Laughable write up, Gomes has kept clean sheet after clean sheet, Spurs have the 2nd best home record with only 9 let in at the Lane, and Ekkoto is a LB not RB !!!
"Mr Fairweather come on don't get so defensive. Ekotto is there because he has the 4th worst ratings over the season for a defender - Plus he plays anywhere across the back if you watched him every week. Basically get over it he is gash" - jenysiss
No. If YOU watched him every week, you would realise that he ONLY plays at left back. Never anywhere else. And, by the way, ask any Spurs fan and they'll tell you that Assou-Ekotto has had a great season. The reason he has a low score is most probably because of his two (unjust) red cards this season.
So there you go. Lesson over, you've been put in your place.
Nemanja Vidić, jedan je Nemanja Vidić...!
Its all made up anyway. I wouldn't believe anything else the papers tell me so why this! 0.87 points between Carsson and Boswinga, it's ridiculous saying that you are either @#$% or fantastic.
I can see Aresenal coming under severe pressure at Anfield on Tuesday night but, with Gerrard injured Liverpool will AVE to be at there best!! Coz Robin van Persie to me is like another Dennis Bergkamp a player i really really rated better than Henry coz Bergkamp read the game well. Arsene Wenger brought a gem back then in him. Theo Wallcott is also a great player too he proved that again'st Liverpool in Champions League last season at Anfield. So, how do you see the match going on Tuesday Arsenal fans? I predict Liverpool 3 Arsenal 1 Torres to score Wallcott for the Gunners
There ave been some terrific goals scored just lately in the Premiership Champions League. But, the goal that stands out for me is TORRES wonder strike again'st Blackburn. How he turned his body & found the net is unbelievable!! Ronaldo's strike again'st Porto was also great but Torres was better coz it was from a difficult angle
Come on i am a Liverpool fan is there anybody out there wanna ave a pop at me STILL!! Coz all i see on Yahoo pages is @#$% from United & Chelsea fans on about Hillsborough. I hope your club don't ave a major disaster or any other football club coz 96 innocent fans going to a simple football match got crushed to death for no reason whatsoever? So why is that funny? If i were at Anfield on Wednesday, i would of beaten up Charles Itjande if he found it amusing
I've no respect for anybody who keeps slating Liverpool. We've had the worst football disaster EVER going, yet there are still sick @#$% who like to ave a pop at us like Charles Itjande who IS a Liverpool keeper!! Liverpool sack that bag of @#$% we should never of brought him at all. We should of kept Chris Kirkland & he should be Englands keeper NOT James. Gerrard for me best midfielder in the world nobody can match him
Gerrard Torres they don't moan they just simply get on with there job. Unlike at United when they lose it's a major crisis!! Why do so many idiotic stupid none Liverpool fans always slate Liverpool after we've just had our 20th Hillsborough anniversary? There is just NO respect in football anymore it's like a war full of sick @#$%
VIDIC(MAN UTD) IS MARVELLOUS, FAKE TEAM
