Paul Howling hopes Wednesday's Blue Square Premier Goes To Wembley Stakes at York is the last time Generous Thought lines up in handicap company.
The three-year-old rounded off last season with two victories and reappeared in April at Newbury, where he was beaten a short head by Huzzah, a winner at Chester last week.
Howling said: "One would hope this could be his last handicap, it's very tough and competitive but the only thing I'm worried about is the ground really.
"He won on quickish ground at Doncaster last year but he is taking on better horses now and ideally he would want a little bit of cut, but he is in good order anyway.
"He's in very good shape, he's been working really well and he shouldn't be far away."
Howling also runs the well-regarded Grand Honour in the Happy Birthday To Blue Square Prices EBF Novice Stakes.
"He didn't handle the ground last time at Ascot but still wasn't beaten very far so I expect to see better from him tomorrow," added the Newmarket handler.
