A Greek swimmer tested positive for banned substances in an out-of-competition test and will have a second sample tested before his name is made public, the Greek swimming federation said.
The positive test comes weeks after another doping affair involving almost the whole Greek national weightlifting team who could be banned from August's Olympic Games in Beijing.
"The Greek Swimming Federation is saddened by this, lone, incident which cannot taint the hundreds of athletes of our national teams and the 51 of our Olympic squad," the federation said.
It said the athlete had initially returned a negative sample but the Greek doping agency contacted the federation on Tuesday to inform them the sample had been rechecked and was positive.
The federation gave no details of the substance found.
In early April, 11 of 14 national weightlifting team members tested positive for drugs, triggering a judicial inquiry and forcing the resignation of long-time national coach Christos Iakovou.
