Harlequins loose-forward Will Skinner will captain England Saxons at the Churchill Cup in Candana and America this summer.

Skinner (pictured) is joined in the squad by Quins back-row colleagues Chris Robshaw and Tom Guest, who have all impressed at The Stoop this season.

Leicester wing Tom Varndell, London Irish scrum-half Paul Hodgson and Gloucester fly-half Ryan Lamb will all travel to North America after missing out on selection for the senior England squad.

Sale full-back Ben Foden, who joins Northampton this summer, and Guest were also considered outside bets to make the trip to New Zealand.

Wasps centre Dominic Waldouck, Gloucester's Anthony Allen and Bath winger Matt Banahan have all been rewarded with call-ups.

The 28-man squad, to be coached by Newcastle boss Steve Bates and London Irish forwards specialist Toby Booth, includes nine capped players.

The most experienced of those is Leicester's World Cup hooker George Chuter.

England go into the tournament as defending champions, after beating the New Zealand Maori at Twickenham in last year's final.

The Saxons face pool matches against the US Eagles on June 7 in Ottawa and Ireland A a week later in Toronto.

The final takes place in Chicago on 21 June.
