Premier League - Spurs to stick with Pavlyuchenko

Eurosport - Wed, 13 May 16:40:00 2009

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko expects to remain at the club next season and claims he has been given assurances about his future at White Hart Lane.

FOOTBALL 2008-09 Premier League Tottenham Hotspur Roman Pavlyuchenko - 0

Pavlyuchenko has been in and out of team in his rookie campaign in the Premier League and his agent recently met boss Harry Redknapp, with the Russia striker confident he is still in the Spurs boss' plans.

"I am a Tottenham player and want to remain one," Pavlyuchenko said in Russian newspaper Sport Express. "All these talks about a sale or loan don't bother me."

The 27-year-old, however, did admit he questioned his future when he turned out for the reserves.

He added: "Of course it is not pleasant to be in the reserves. When I did not play for several matches I started to think everything over and to tell the truth I had some disturbing thoughts."

  1. Hope he comes good, but have my doubts. He is skillful but lightweight and unable to hold the ball when Spurs are under threat; also, doesn't work hard enough off the ball.

  2. I do agree bent would probably do well else where and Pav could be a hero for Spurs but there will be huge pressure ifitdoesnt happen for him then we wont keep him after that, and yes we do need to keep Moderic...but i think you cant play mod on the left and lennon on the right at the same time, keane plays too deep, he's always looking to pick up the ball from midfield and defoe likes to hang out on the edge of the box sitting on the last defenders shoulder which means we lose creativity in the final pass so many makers and no-one in the box to put it away, thats why bent has scored so many he's that type of player.our balance isnt right at the moment thats why we always seem to struggle...iam not sure about lennon.. if we could get a good right midfielder who can put a desent cross in 90% of the time would we miss lennon that much? iam still not sure..

  3. Good eye for goal, top finisher!! But needs games to adjust to the English style of play. Solution I think is get rid of Bent, then have Keane or Defoe play along side him!!! SUPER SUPER PAV,SUPER SUPER PAV,SUPER SUPER PAV,SUPER PAVLYUCHENKO!!!

  4. Pav like most foreign players will take a season to bed down in the EPL. He's produced at the highest level already that's why we bought him in the first place and he must be kept for the future good of Spurs along with Modric. For me, keep all the strikers, you only need one or two to get injured to be in real trouble if you don't have replacements. Harry will need to juggle with them to carry us back to the top 5 or 6. Bents top scorer, why sell him after such a relatively short stay??

  5. Pav is excellent. Selling a forward? get rid of Bent.

  6. /manaloud I think it's because deep in the heart we know Bent isn't really a Spurs player. I can see him being a rather good striker in Big Sam type of football club, but I guess we just don't want that here in WHL.

  9. Iam a spurs fan, and i do like Pav hes got bags of talent but needs time to settle in....can someone tell me what it is that makes us dislike darren bent?....i just cant figure it out hes scored 12 goals for us this season and if that was pav we'd be singing his praises but as its darren we couldn't care less..why?..is it he just seems to lack that mean streak he's just to nice a bloke?.. lacks passion or that with a name like bent he should be playing for arsenal?...can someone explain that for me?

  11. Pav will come good. We had a lot of flops over the years but somehow I always had good feeling about him, and really appreciate the fact that even during his bad spells he always showed his desire to stay and do well for us instead of sulking or looking for a quick way out. If Harry gives him a good run he'll do good things for us next seaon. COYS
