Mark Viduka has revealed he would love to remain at Newcastle, as long as Alan Shearer stays on as manager.
Although now 33 and out of contract at the end of the season, his man-of-the-match performance in Monday's 3-1 win over Middlesbrough proved he still has what it takes to play in the Premier League.
"I would love to spend some more time at this club," said Viduka.
"That's my personal thing. I would love to have good times here, and with Alan Shearer as a boss, this club has a lot of potential.
"I have been here for two years and we've had five managers. I would say to whoever is in charge, keep Alan for as long as he needs.
"The fans love him, he is Newcastle through and through, he is a big personality, people respect him and the players respect him."
Viduka feels he is finally being given the support he needed from Shearer which was lacking with Kinnear, and he is now repaying that faith.
"When I had problems with my Achilles, I worked hard to get back, but Joe Kinnear didn't look like he wanted to use me," added Viduka in the Sydney Morning Herald.
"When Alan came in, the first thing he said to me was 'Are you up for a fight?' and I am always up for a fight. I said 'Definitely'.
"I'm a massive fan of Alan's. I admired him as a player, we play the same position, and when someone with his personality and what he has done in the game comes and says 'I need you', it lifts you."

I think we can destroy Fuham after a nothing to be proud of performance against Boro. Beating the second off bottom at home is nothing to shout about. The belief is there and I would play Viduka before Owen, but Martins owns the number nine.
Make it safe, get rid of Ashley, if Shearer wants the job it's his, but it's going to cost millions to buy a full squad. The future is anything but safe.
trevorhawman i totally agree with you to certain extent isnt all football players only interested in the money if they play and score they want more and more and more so in that respect i agree on the other hand i disagree cos all players have their bad spells look at martins and taylor they are also committed to the club but they had bad spells now they are playing again cos they all want 1 thing at the moment and thats survival of the epl
Viduka is still a quality player as he proved the other night. I would be happy to see him stay but only on a pay as you play type contract, then at least we won't have to stump up any cash during the Winter months.
Pity we wouldn't love you to stay you fat greedy @#$%!
£35.000 a week on a payed as you play contract. Still interested Mark
mmm
You know you're a great club when Mark Verruca wants to play for you.
How typical of Mr. Viduka. Every season is the same, so called injuries all the way through the season, then towards the end of the season when his contract is due for renewal he suddenly comes good. He did it at Boro and he's done exactly the same at the Barcodes.Which is why although we all know he can be a great player, the Boro fans chant "you're just a fat, greedy, b......d", as he is only interested in the money!
