Tigers set out to get Bent for £3m

Fri 13 Jun, 12:17 PM

Marcus Bent has reportedly climbed to the top of Hull's summer wishlist after Wigan turned down the chance to sign the Charlton forward.Bent scored seven times on a season-long loan at Wigan last season and was expected to complete a permanent switch to the JJB Stadium, with a £1million transfer already agreed between the two clubs.

However, a four-month goal drought - three of Bent's goals came in one game - and a failure to form a successful partnership with Emile Heskey meant Steve Bruce decided not to push through the deal.

Charlton are still looking to get rid of Bent this summer but they will ask for an inflated fee of around £3million following the former Ipswich striker's relative success with Latics.

And The Sun claims Hull have moved straight to the front of the queue to sign the 30-year-old as they seek to reinforce their strikeforce for their first ever season of top-flight football.

Meanwhile Wigan are set to fill the void left by Bent with the capture of Egypt international Amr Zaki, who Bruce has been chasing for a number of months.
