Port Vale have been handed a tough tie in the Carling Cup first round after being drawn away to Championship outfit Sheffield United.Lee Sinnott's men will ply their trade in the bottom tier of English football this season following their relegation from League One.
The Blades, meanwhile, are expected to challenge strongly for a place in the Premier League after ending last season in a rich vein of form.
The tie will be played in the week commencing August 11.
