Premier League - Walcott ready to strike

Eurosport - Sat, 13 Jun 09:46:00 2009

England forward Theo Walcott believes he will develop into an out-and-out striker over the next couple of years.

FOOTBALL 2008-09 Premier League Arsenal Theo Walcott applauds fans - 0

The Arsenal winger, who scored a hat-trick for England in Croatia in a World Cup qualifier last September, has played almost exclusively on the right flank so far in his career.

But the 20-year-old expects his long-term future to lie up front where his searing pace can be fully utilised, and told the Daily Express: "I spoke to the boss and he wants to sort of gradually move me into a striker role.."

He added: "I'll happily play anywhere for this club.

"But no-one has seen me as a striker at the moment, which is my main position, so I'll be working well on that in the next couple of years."

Get real there. Not so long ago, Michael Owen was the best and look at the way he is now being slated. David Beckham was once "the best"....now look at the way he is being slagged off.
At the end of the day, ask yourself if you shall be appreciating Theo Walcott in the mid to long term.
Walcott is just another one of a long line of not bad players.

Arsenal are running broke and wont afford another striker even if they sell Adebayor (the money made from his sale will be used to help cover over all the debts Arsenal have which is about 200 million pounds) so now Wenger has decided he'll "save" some money and use someone whose a midfiled player to replace Adebayor.

  10. Love theo style of play. He's brillian with his feet and he can cross well with them. If he decide to move up font that's even more better. Because he will have the advantage to accurately strike the ball in to the net. Unlike some people wh can't

  13. Walcott is just part of the Arsenal New Generation, Nasri, Fab, Gibbs, Dennilson, Wilshere, Ramsey, Frimpong, Coquelin, Merida, Vela, Bendtner, Freeman, Lansbury, Afobe, Watt, Song, Djourou, Emmanuel-Thomas and co. All 22 or under and oozing in talent.

Other team need to put them down cos they are terrified at the potential of the Arsenal youth.

By the way Gibbs, Frimpong, Wilshere, Walcott, Freeman and Afobe great prospects for England too.

You have to wait and see ofcourse.
