Damien Duff's advisor has dismissed reports linking the Newcastle winger with a move to Barclays Premier League newcomers Burnley.
Speculation in Duff's native Ireland has this week suggested that the Clarets, Aston Villa and Wolves are going head-to-head in the chase to sign the former Blackburn favourite.
But Duff's long-term advisor Pat Devlin told the Lancashire Telegraph: "No, he's still under contract at Newcastle and that would be his first port of call. I think someone's winding up the Burnley fans because he's a Blackburn fella!"

The Duffer is a Legend
gaz4ash. 10. DUFF JUST DOESN'T HAVE IT IN HIM TO PLAY ENOUGH GAMES IN A SEASON MATE. WE'RE GONNA NEED PROPER GADGIES ON THE CASE.
why are we even talking about Owen. He is no longer a Toon player. I said whenwe bought him it was a bad idea. We needed a robust, goal scoring physical player, not a prematurely kn akk ad old scouse pu tz. Greedy little has been. bye
APPARENTLY safc's NEW OWNER, Ellis Short, BEING AN AMERICAN, WOULD LIKE HIS NEW ACQUISITION TO TAKE ON AN AMERICAN STYLE TEAM NAME. HIS SUGGESTION, IT SEEMS, IS " SUNDERLAND BROWNS " WHO HE KNOWS, DISPITE WHATEVER HE GIVES THE CLUB TO SPEND ON NEW PLAYERS, WILL ALWAYS BE
SH I TE. HE ALSO INTENDS TO RE NAME THE HILARIOUSLY NAMED " STADIUM OF LIGHT " TO A MORE APT' " STADIUM OF SH I TE ." THE MAN'S ALREADY SHOWING THAT HE RECOGNISES THE CLUB'S STANDING IN ENGLISH " SOCCER. " reuters news agency
b4 u let players go u must get players in or else there wont b a squad i think duff will b outstading in the championship.hes the only player who came out nd said newcastle want good enough for premier league and hes right
Oh and by the way Fact: Newcastle have taken 57 points from Villa since the start of the premiership, lol, i love facts dont you, up the villa, i couldnt agree more lol.........
Why do people keep linking Newcastle with Leeds? oh hold on they both got relegated from the premiership....and? leeds were bascially owed by the banks, hmmm not newcastle, they spent more than they could ever get back, hence why the banks folded them, so if you really want to have a debate about economics then please feel free to fire away.
Who wants the felid anyway,he's a T-sser
He didn`t exactly light up Newcastle when he arrived, he was less than average. Good riddance to him.
Stephen V;
nah, on 2nd thoughts . . . . . you're not worthy of my time!
Who would want any Newcastle player - all rubbish thats the reason they got relegated,just not good enough for the premiership. I think there heading in same direction as Leeds - in freefall through the divisions and maybe find a comfort zone in the Conference.
I love that last line in the report - wind-ups in football, who would have thought it? (!!) I don't think Burnley would contemplate his wages (unless they think he would agree to savage pay cut) and that is why Duff's agent has dismissed the story - no attempt at loyalty from Duff (unlike Martins), he'll just be hoping that a Premier club will come in for him who can continue to pay him more than he's worth (hope that's not Sunderland!).
Used to love Duffer when he played for Chelsea. Rumour was he left Chelsea because he wasnt happy living down south, would appear hes not happy living oop north either.
let him go pleasssseee he is @#$%
