Barnsley manager Simon Davey has welcomed the Football League's decision to increase the number of named substitutes from five to seven.
Clubs approved the proposal at the Football League's AGM this week and Davey believes the rule change will allow him to fully utilise his squad.
He told the club's official website: "It is a big step forward.
"Not only does it give you the chance to have more alternatives on the bench, it will enable you to give young players an opportunity.
"You can cover all positions and it is a big move in the right direction."
