Hubbard: Sheridan's style crucial

Sat 13 Jun, 12:59 PM

Chairman Barrie Hubbard has revealed that John Sheridan was chosen as Chesterfield's new manager because of his attacking style of football.

Former Oldham boss Sheridan, 44, got the nod ahead of Colin Calderwood to replace Lee Richardson in the Saltergate hotseat.

Hubbard said: "There were two candidates on the shortlist and I would have been happy with either. We were very lucky to get the quality of applicants that we did.

"We'd obviously seen him (Sheridan) play locally and we've seen what he did as the manager at Oldham and the type of football they tried to play.

"He also interested our new major shareholder, Dave Allen, with his attacking football, so we hope everything is going to be great."
