Le Mans defender Marko Basa says he would 'welcome the opportunity' to join Celtic.
The SPL champions are weighing up a move for the Serbian, who saw a move to Borussia Dortmund fall through due to Le Mans' asking price.
Reports have suggested that Le Mans are demanding a fee in the region of £6.5million for Basa, who joined from OFK Belgrade three years ago.
That figure is out of Celtic's reach, but the 25-year-old is hoping the two clubs will settle on a compromise to enable him to move to Parkhead.
"I'd welcome the opportunity to join Celtic because they are a club with a proud history," said Basa in the Sunday Mail.
"They also have a manager in Gordon Strachan who has achieved great things as a player and also as the leader of Celtic.
"At the moment the situation is out of my control, but I will do what I can to make this transfer happen."
