Charlton boss Alan Pardew has confirmed he was knocked back by Fulham after making a loan approach for Hameur Bouazza.
Pardew has acknowledged that Fulham are not currently prepared to let the winger leave Craven Cottage.
"We had made contact with Fulham, but they don't want to do business at the moment," said Pardew after Charlton's friendly win over Ebbsfleet on Saturday.
Bouazza joined Fulham last summer from Watford, only to struggle for fitness in the second half of the season.
Spanish duo Espanyol and Osasuna, along with Fulham's Premier League rivals Wigan, have also been linked with offers.
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson, though, appears keen to assess the Algeria international in pre-season before making a decision on Bouazza's future.
