Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has poured cold water on speculation linking his former Liverpool team-mate Xabi Alonso with a move to the Bianconeri.
Sissoko left Liverpool in January and recent reports suggested Alonso would join him at the Stadio Olimpico before the start of the new season.
However, Sissoko claims the Spain midfielder is happy to remain at Anfield.
"Yes, I have talked to him," Sissoko told Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport. "And he told me he is happy at Liverpool."
One player who appears more likely to team up with Sissoko at Juve is Sevilla midfielder Christian Poulsen.
The Denmark international has already agreed personal terms with the Bianconeri, who look set to pay the player's 10 million-euro contract release clause.
Poulsen's transfer is expected to be officially confirmed after a medical on Monday, although some of Juve's fans are unhappy with the proposed move.
A group of the club's supporters recently unfurled a banner at Juve's summer training camp in Pinzolo which read: "Ridiculous, you've signed another rubbish player: Poulsen."
While the fans might be cool on the arrival of Poulsen, Sissoko insists the pair can form a solid partnership in the Juventus midfield.
"We have different characteristics," Sissoko continued. "In fact I think our styles can fit together very well, as can our qualities.
"He gets stuck in more and also scores more goals. There's no doubling up.
"Certain choices don't depend on me, but here there's space also for Poulsen."
Meanwhile, Sissoko has revealed he is nearing full fitness after injuring his thigh while on international duty with Mali last month.
"If it was up to me I would start playing immediately," he said. "But the doctors have told me that I have to take it one step at a time.
"I really don't think there will be any problems for the Champions League preliminary round (in August)."
He added: "I want to win the Scudetto. We are strong and we have the quality to improve still further.
"Now it's up to us, we have a great desire to win, we have a pile of dreams, we want to achieve them all."
