Speed Gifted steps back up to a mile and three-quarters when he bids for a first Pattern-race victory in the Prix Maurice de Nieuil at Longchamp on Monday.
The four-year-old won the Melrose Handicap over that distance at York last August and was fourth to Macarthur over a mile and a half in the Group Two Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot on his latest start.
"The distance will suit him, but this race is a bit better class than the handicap he won at York last summer," said trainer Luca Cumani.
"He's had two nice runs at Goodwood and Ascot this season and he goes there in good form."
He faces 11 rivals in this Group Two contest, including fellow British challenger, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly Hi Calypso, who was last of nine in the Hardwicke.
