Rapidly improving German Martin Kaymer made it back-to-back victories when he won the Scottish Open.

The 24-year-old, who beat Britain's Lee Westwood in a play-off to land last week's French Open title, cruised to a two-shot triumph after a closing 69 gave him a 15-under total of 269 at the warm-up event for next week's Open.

Overnight leader Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (72) of Spain shared second place on 271 with Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin (66). A further stroke adrift were Adam Scott of Australia (66) and Dane Soren Kjeldsen (70).

"This week was very special because Scotland is the home of golf," Kaymer said after climbing within touching distance of the world's top 10.

"I have really enjoyed the last two days especially. The spectators were amazing the way they supported us."

With early drizzle and murky skies eventually giving way to bright sunshine, Kaymer took control with three birdies on the front nine while Fernandez-Castano had to wait until the 14th hole to pick up his first stroke of the day.

Kaymer effectively locked the door on his fourth tour victory by converting a 12-foot birdie putt at the 13th and sinking another six-foot effort two holes later.

He was, though, less than satisfied with his ball-striking and said it was his touch on and around the greens that saved him.

"I really didn't hit the ball very well," said Kaymer after taking his combined earnings from the last two weeks to 1.24 million euros.

"I missed a few greens today but my short game was really good. I made a few really good up-and-downs.

"The money is nice but it's not the most important thing. If you are out here to play for money then you are in the wrong job."

Britain's Steve Webster (68) produced a scintillating birdie-par-eagle-eagle run to take a share of 11th place on 276.

The 34-year-old Englishman, winner of the 2005 Italian Open and 2007 Portugal Masters, recorded a hole-in-one when his seven-iron effort rolled into the cup at the 193-yard, par-three fifth.

Webster then claimed a three at the next when his 113-yard approach with a wedge flew straight into the hole.

They were the first back-to-back eagles on the European Tour since Australian Kane Webber achieved the feat at the 2008 Ballantine's Championship in South Korea.

"I didn't actually see either of them go in," said Webster.

"It's one of those things I'll probably never do again."
