Aldershot manager Gary Waddock was content with his side's preparations for the coming season after the 4-0 defeat to QPR.

Waddock made over 200 appearances for QPR and saw his old side comfortably win on Saturday but is confident of being ready for the League Two kick-off.

He said: "In terms of what we were looking for I was happy.

"At this stage of the season it is still about preparation and we are learning match by match.

"Of course we would like to win games along the way but it is all about August 8 and Darlington at the moment."
