PSG chief craves Anelka move

Wed 13 Aug, 12:13 PM

Paris Saint Germain chairman Charles Villeneuve says he would love to see Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka back at the club.Anelka began his career at the Parc des Princes before moving to Arsenal at the age of 17.

After moving to Real Madrid, Anelka returned to Paris in 2000 for a second spell with the club before he was lured back to England.

Villeneueve now says that Anelka, who joined Chelsea last year, is the sort of player needed by PSG.

"Yes I would like to see Nicolas Anelka back at PSG," he said.

"I will tell you openly he is the type of forward we need."

Villeneuve is working hard to bring in a new striker for coach Paul Le Guen.

After failing to bring in Jimmy Briand from Rennes, the club are trying to conclude a deal for Mateja Kezman - now at Fenerbahce.

"We found an agreement with Kezman's club. There is a slight problem remaining between him and Fenerbahce about a signing fee," Villeneuve confirmed.

"We have other solutions, but we didn't start any contact so far. We hope to sign Kezman even if it doesn't depend on us anymore.

"I tried to sign a forward with the profile set by Paul Le Guen. He wanted Jimmy Briand? That's simple, I can't buy Briand. Rennes' major shareholder doesn't want to change his position: €10 million. I won't give €10 million for Briand, it is not the market's price. We offered €9 million. So the second choice was Kezman."
