Zola targets two

West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola is still hoping to add two new strikers to his squad before the end of the transfer window.

Zola is keen to address a shortage of attacking options in his current squad and has already been linked with possible moves for Barcelona's Eidur Gudjohnsen and Bayern Munich's Luca Toni.

Zola remains optimistic of bringing in additional firepower before the end of the month and there has been renewed speculation linking the club with Morocco international Marouane Chamakh.

"We're looking for at least two strikers, that's the idea," said Zola. "It is not an easy market, but I think West Ham right now is an attractive team and I'm sure I will find the right person."

  1. here we go again new season starts today and we have­ got one striker and a list of injuries and maybes and­ rumours about new players BUT WHO CARES the season­ starts today footballs back gonna get mad and glad on­ sat afternoons again and who knows we might be sorted­ by end off the month has anyone else heard about ­ someone buying club

Come end of the September with no front line in place­ we could be possibly between 9 and 12 points off the­ leaders, those 9/12 pionts at the end of the season­ could have gained us extra money for finishing in a­ higher position, it could also have possibly given us a­ place in europe next season, (money that would have­ help pay for a couple of strickers) and possibly find­ us new owners who have a real interest in the club,­ with those points lost it could get us relegated,who­ would want to buy us then, don't seem good­ management to me. The saga with the 3 front players­ that keep getting mentioned as been going on too long.­ If they are questioning coming to the club, look for­ someone else who does want to come, if its a case that­ we cannot afford, them stop trying to get something on­ the cheap, again, go for something we can afford, but­ whatever Zola does he should have done it before the­ start of the season and the possible loss of points­ because we haven't got a forward line.

  4. Same old same old. Season starts tomorrow and we're­ still farting about. Even if Gudjohnse and Toni, DO­ come in it'll probably be the end of september­ before they are both fit and comfortable with the­ setup.
    Selling Upson (if it happens) and bringing in­ Loaners is just asset stripping by the back door. They­ add nothing to our assets but still cost high wages.

  5. I was really impressed by Cole playing for England the­ other night, he looked really sharp. However, he­ can't be our lone striker, what with crystal legs­ Ashton still a bit dicey. If we had either or both Toni­ and Gudjohnson come in I'd be made up, if we get­ no-one we're going to come unstuck pretty quickly.­ Please sort this out asap!

  7. It aint easy when you havnt got much money to pay out. ­ Zola is trying to get them ON LOAN. Players want more­ security than that, (in case they flop and get sent­ back again to original clubs!) TWO strikers? Why­ not get ONE GOOD ONE? Cole needs good partner up­ front, and of course these young lads Stanislas and­ Jiminez should be told to get forward and SHOOT instead­ of just looking to pass to Cole. We had two mediocre­ 'strikers' last season that had to be let go. ­ MUST be a worthy striker out there somewhere!
